Using Additives for Texture

There is a large range of additives available to today’s acrylic artist. To create a textured effect for this doorway, we will add sawdust or dried egg shells to an acrylic impasto medium. Details on what to bring will follow. You may also bring along your music bird that we started several weeks ago and we will finish that in acrylics, too. Cost of Open Paint Wednesdays is $5, which may be applied toward any purchase that day at
Town Hall Arts.

Proportions of the Head

The proportions of the head that we use today were applied as early as the 1500’s. These are helpful rules that were born from observation. Review these simple concepts and apply them to your own drawing. Work from your own photo or examples in handout. Supplies include CarbOthello pastel pencil Caput Martuum Red #645, CarbOthello pastel pencil in Titanium White #100, and 1/4 sheet of Strathmore Velvet Gray Charcoal Paper, kneaded eraser. All supplies are available at Town Hall Arts. Try out our new pencil sharpener for pastel pencils in the classroom! You will be given a handout to follow. Cost of Open Paint Wednesdays is $5, which may be applied toward any purchase that day at Town Hall Arts.
